Bachchan ke fan ho, hain!!!

Vijay Deenanath Chauhan! This iconic screen name is enough to address the towering person behind it, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, the Big B of Bollywood, the angry young man of Indian cinema, the undisputed maha naayak! A man loved by all age groups over multiple decades due to his unmatched charisma and his deep voice which just automatically connects with everyone.

As far as I remember, my first fan moment for any actor was after watching Amitabh Bachchan in Sholay. There was a sort of coolness to his character which I loved. Ab kya karein mausi, mera to Dil hi aisa hai! or Tumhara naam kya hai Basanti? and then there was 'Ye Dosti' song. Even now, it remains one of my favourite songs ever. I can't hear it without smiling, and without thinking of someone special. Some songs are just songs, some become a small piece of our own life.

Ask anyone to do an Amitabh Bachchan impression and the first reaction would be they would stand in his signature slightly bent pose with one hand on waist - Rishte me to hum tumhare baap lagte hain, naam hai Shahenshah! or Don ka intejar to gyarah mulkon ki police kar rahi hai, lekin Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi, namumkin hai! Who does not know the answer to the question - Aaj mere paas gaadi hai, bangla hai, bank balance hai, tumhare paas kya hai? We may make fun of Sooryavansham but the fact is we all have watched Heera Thakur consume that kheer multiple times.

Hum Jahan khade hote hain, line wahin se shuru hoti hai! He was the first movie star to come on television with KBC and his ease of connecting with old, young, ladies, children or celebs makes me awestruck. The number of songs he has sung himself is another wonder. Does any holi song come even close to Rang barse or who does not the lyrics to Mere angne me! Blame it to his voice or his reach among people, he does more number of ads than any other person in the world.

With every passing movie, with every role he plays, with every cameo he does, with every ad he shoots, my love for him as an actor has been growing multiple folds. And somewhere along the way, my love for the actor became respect for the person he is. You can see it in the way he interacts with everyone on KBC. He has been part of my growing up favourite movies, few of my favourite songs and my dialogue-quoting fun banter with friends. So thank you Mr. Bachchan for Jai, for Vijay, for Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, for Don, for Shahenshah, and for every character in between. Kabhi kabhi mere dil me khayal aata hai would movies be the same without Mr. Bachchan?

Happy B'Day to the greatest superstar ever!
