Leh Calling !

Jullay! Hello! If Kashmir is the heaven on Earth then Leh is unarguably the paradise for bikers. Every biker on this planet dreams of driving on the beautiful terrain of Ladakh at least once in his lifetime. I am no different at this. It was October 2014, we were discussing about Leh and Gaurav told that we don't know where we all might be next year, who might get married and not be able to go. So, this is the final chance we have and we made a deal that whatever happens, we will complete our bike trip to Leh next year. At the start of the biking season in June 2015, only 4 of us were left to go (and lets not discuss about how our friends ditched us at the end as always) so, we joined 'Ride of my Life' group for our trip. I had read about Gaurav Jani, the founder of this group and his passion towards biking and Leh attracted me to join him for my adventure.

On 3rd August, we reached Manali, met the ROML team and our fellow bikers. That day we were introduced to each other, briefed about the next 10 days and were provided our Royal Enfield 500cc bikes for roaming/shopping around Manali. The view of the valley from our hotel, the first look of our bikes, the roaring of all the 16 Enfields at a time, the excitement and happiness on our faces - I knew I was going to love and cherish this trip forever. We were about to reach Ladakh or the land of high passes and to drive an Enfield on some of the highest passes of the world was like a dream come true.

Next day, we were taken for a test ride around Manali to get to know what shall we expect in the coming days and get accustomed to our bikes. We started early morning, the weather was good, the roads were narrow but fine, sometimes the gravel was loose but we were still managing well until there came wet mud on the road and all the hell broke loose. Our bikes started skidding; sometimes we got stuck in the middle of one feet mud lying over the whole road. Once I put my feet down to balance the bike, my shoes got stuck in the mud and damn those heavy Woodland shoes, I had a high time just lifting my feet up. Some riders couldn't handle and even fell down. Every step in the mud felt like crossing a mile. At the end of just 70-80km of the total trip, we all were exhausted with the worst driving terrain experience ever. Whether it was the worst road ever or not, now we were mentally prepared for whatever might come in our way to Leh.

Day 3 - August 5 - We started early in the morning from Manali with our road captains Manish and Sachin. Soon, we reached Rohtang pass and it was one of the most beautiful valleys I have ever seen. Though we were only able to have glimpses of the valley due to the heavy fog, it was an awesome start to our closeness with the Himalayas. We stopped at the top of Rohtang pass for photo break as fog had cleared with the sun and the view was amazing. We easily reached our destination Keylong in the evening. We were warmly greeted with Jullay by the hotel staff. We left our bags in the hotel and explored this small town on foot, even tried momos and 'thukpa' there which was not a very good experience.

Next morning, my brother was down due to the thukpa effect and had to rest in the carriage vehicle for the day. We were told that we might face a few water streams today. The first stream we encountered was over 1 foot deep with water flowing at a high speed from the mountain with valley on the other side. Although water at freezing temperature entered our boots, we all crossed it safe and sound. We faced 2-3 more water streams on the day but managed to cross all with ease. We came across Baralacha pass on this day and the snow covered peaks in the background made the view mesmerizing. I guess that's why we call it 'The majestic Himalayas' coz you are spell bound by the beauty of the mountain ranges and the valley. We reached Sarchu after lunch where the Swiss tents were waiting for us.

Sarchu camp was at a height of around 15000 ft and some of us were feeling altitude sickness here. Souvik and I took a stroll to see the surroundings and it started to rain. We made a dash to our tents and Imran bhai stopped us saying it is better to get drenched than wasting our energy and we should save our breadth at this altitude. In the evening, I even went down the valley to the river and then climbing that mere 100 ft at that altitude felt very exhaustive. This was our first day in Kashmir and our phones had only one use left now – clicking pics. We also got the terrible news that there was a cloud-burst before Leh, the roads were washed away and we might have to cut short the trip and return back to Manali. We had to wait till the morning to get this confirmation but I was confident of going forward: “Nothing will spoil my Sunday”. We might be in tents but the stay was warm and cozy and food was delicious. May be that’s the beauty of travelling – you tend to love almost everything that comes in your way. Even the night sky was so clear at Sarchu which we don’t see in cities; the only problem was it was too cold to be outside our tents in the night.

Next Morning, we decided to move towards Leh and would see if the roads clear by the time we reach there. My bro was fine now after a day’s rest and he was ready to drive. We encountered Gata loops early in the morning, a succession of 21 loops in the valley which immediately elevated us from around 15000 ft to 17000 ft. We crossed Nakeela and Lachungla to reach a path where there were trucks with supplies from both sides and the roads had only space for one vehicle but hats off to everyone’s coordination. Then we reached Moore plains which is a beautiful area between the valleys. High mountains on both side and the absolutely straight roads for the entire distance our eyes could see – it was a lovely view and a speed ride. My bike even crossed 120kph and I enjoyed it to my core. Next we reached Tanglang la which was the third highest pass of our trip at 17582 ft. After riding 60-70 km more, we were on the checkpost before Leh and we got the news that the roads were cleared and we would reach Leh. While crossing Thiksey, we saw loads of mud dumped on either side of road which might have been washed out from the mountains by the cloudburst and blocked the roads but it had been cleared and we got our passage. Finally, we reached our hotel Leh-Chen where we had a nice steam bath and the much needed rest after our 250 km ride of the day.

Day 6 – August 8 – Rest day. We were given a day’s rest in Leh which was necessary as some people in the group were having health issues from Sarchu. After a good and long sleep, we moved out of the hotel to visit the Leh city. We went to the Leh Palace which was not as lavish or big as we see the palaces in Rajasthan but considering the altitude where we were, it was a unique architecture in itself. The view of the whole Leh city and the surrounding mountains was amazing from the palace. Then we strolled around the streets of the city and did some shopping. In the evening, we went to the Sanchi stoop which was near to our hotel. The setting sun made the Leh Palace glow and the 360 degree view of Leh was mesmerizing. Finally, we were ready for the big day.

Day 7 – August 9 – Sunday – The big day had arrived. We had to ride to the top of the highest motorable path to reach Khardung la at 18380 ft and the best thing was it was my birthday. This was one of our reasons to choose Ride of My Life group to celebrate my birthday in a memorable way, at the top of the highest motorable road. We had bought the cake the earlier day to be cut at Khardung la top. We were given local Leh bikes in the morning as bikes from other regions were not permitted in Ladakh for tourism and these were no match to the bikes which we had driven from Manali to Leh. We set out from the hotel and the roads were a disaster. Sorry, did I say roads. There were absolutely no roads after the checkpost for Khardung la, just rocks and gravel which made it too difficult to handle the bike throughout to the top. Finally, we reached our destination Khardung la which has its own importance as the roads connect to the Siachen glacier. I celebrated my birthday at Khardung la top and everyone took loads of photos. Finally, we decided to move back from there before altitude sickness could take its toll. We reached Thiksey in the evening, a small town 30 km from Leh, where we had our second encounter with the swiss tents.

We all were pretty exhausted from the rough terrain we had traversed in the day but our spirits were still high. The tents were comfortable and had all the basic amenities. After dinner, we made a bonfire and everyone gathered around it. We played ‘Antakshari’ for quite a long time; my brother showed his poetry book and shared some of his poetry. We cracked jokes, pulled each other’s legs and shared some of our experiences. Finally, when there was no wood left, we decided to retire for the day.

Next morning, we headed towards Pangong Lake. On the way, we crossed the second highest pass of our journey, Chang la at 17688 ft. We also crossed an army base on our way which reminded us of the dedication of the Indian army to serve the country at any place, altitude and climate. The roads were mostly good today and we had a smooth ride. We knew that there were few wooden cottages and more swiss tents at Pangong and we were pretty much done with the tents and no longer wanted them. So, we rushed ahead to reach first at our camp site where Manish told us that cottages would be occupied by the couples and rest of us would take the tents. Now we were thinking why the hell did we drove crazily to reach early. Anyways, we kept our bags in the tents and rode towards the spot of the lake where the shooting of ‘3 Idiots’ had been done. The view surrounding the lake was mesmerizing. We could see the sunlight throwing all its beauty over the mountains and every peak was a shade different. The rainbow in the distance was like our childhood painting where we used to draw the rainbow spread above the mountains. The water of the lake was crystal clear and the breeze was making waves in the lake. It was too calm and soothing and our hearts were overwhelmed with the beauty of nature. We even rode our bikes to the lake side which was tough in the sand. After spending some peaceful time near the lake, we decided to head back to the camp before sun would leave us and descend behind the mountains. There was again a bonfire in the night but with fewer people than yesterday.

The following morning, we started our journey back to Leh. Continuous bike ride for the last 8 days was showing its effect and we were getting a little restless to end our journey. This was our final ride before leaving Leh. Gaurav had some pain in his hands and hence, Souvik rode with me on the last day. Now, I realized that riding solo was a lot easier. Hats-off to all the riders with pillion on this tough track. On reaching back to Leh-Chen hotel, everyone started their packing for the return. The time had come for the adventure to end and go back to our normal routine life. Thanks to the Ride of My Life team - Sachin, Manish, Imran, Dorjee and all the fellow riders, I had a great riding experience in Ladakh. The adventure seeking person inside me was satisfied but had a yearning to ride once more. Let’s see what’s in the store of our future – Be it trek to Everest Base camp or Europe backpacking tour. A New Year has come; May it bring new hopes and adventures. Till then, Jullay!

Marriage-warriage - haay, tauba!!!

Late 20s is a very difficult age for all the youngsters in India. We are working for a while now and are either settled in our jobs or are looking for others options in life. This is the age of proving our self, achieving our goals, gaining absolute freedom, adventures, new beginnings and heartaches. But then, a more powerful weapon exists in the world. Out of nowhere, all of a sudden, a sword is hanging above you - the sword of Marriage!

You spend a few years out of college and your parents start to tell you - "This is the right age for marriage. So many matches are coming, why don't you, at least, start looking." Your parents, brothers, sisters, relatives, neighbors, neighbor's relatives, your married friends, your unmarried friends, your friend's friends, office colleagues, your landlord, basically, the whole world has just one question for you - "When are you planning to get married?" I just don't understand the whole world's obsession with marriage. Sab hath dho ke meri shaadi ke peechhe kyun pade ho yaar? Just chill, have fun in your life and let me have my share.

I agree marriages are a fun time in India. This is the time when your friends start getting married, you attend their marriage and make sure that they regret their decision. You have a reunion in marriages and enjoy life far from all other tensions remembering the good old days and ogling at pretty girls. You also hear the news of marriages of your exes and crushes and have heartbreaks. With the fun, you also get to hear the taunts from your parents - "ab to tere iss dost ki bhi shadi ho gayi, tu bhi kyun nahi kar leta." I just don't get their worry or hurry. May be this is the so called 'generation gap'.

So, what do I really want. Bas thodi aazaadi aur chahiye, thoda adventure aur karna hai, thodi door aur akele chalna hai, thoda aur khud se rubaroo hona hai, fir shayad I will allow someone to enter my life. To gaon walon, thoda intejar aur karo. You never know kab main apni Basanti ke liye tanki pe chadh jaunga. Till then, I am happily single and not yet ready to mingle!!!

Dreams

Dreams

Dreams are something which we see while sleeping. Sometimes, we remember our dreams after waking, while most of the times, we don't. Sometimes our dreams are pleasant and a few times, we wake in up in the middle of the night horrified by our own imagination. Some people see their loved ones in their dreams, some see the opposite and avenge their counterparts in their dreams. A few special ones see their past or future in their dreams. Some very talented ones mould their dreams to win a lottery(Just kidding, took a stupid example from a movie). A few of us even day-dream of becoming a millionaire from just a pack of eggs. Whatever be the case, there is definitely a little significance in our dreams.

I had a very interesting concept about dreams in my childhood which might be true(at least for me) - 'We dream what we want to be or do in our lives and what our conscious knows we can never ever do in real'. In my school days(may be inspired my some movie), I would dream of being a hero beating the bad guys, saving the world almost everyday. When I grew up a little, I started dreaming about roaming around the world, visiting exotic locations driving my red Ferrari. This might be the reason I still love going to new places and my childhood crush for Ferrari and love for red colour is not hidden from anyone. A few years earlier, I would dream often of sitting with someone on a beach, sipping coffee, watching out the ocean and enjoying the calmness around us although I could never make out who I was sitting with as I always saw this from behind. Then, I stopped seeing any dream since last 3-4 years.

सपने और हकीकत में सिर्फ पलक खुलने और बंद होने का फर्क होता है . . . पलक बंद तो सपना, खुली तो हकीकत। Dreams definitely have a greater significance. They allow us to believe in ourself and to go for what we want in life. We have to dream before our dreams can come true. A wise man once said that a man makes his own luck but the greatness starts with a small dream. You strive hard to fulfill your dreams, face all the roadblocks with confidence, stumble but don't give up, you fight back with all your might and finally reach your ultimate destination. As rightly said by my idol, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam - 'Dream is not that what you see in sleep. Dream is the thing which doesn't allow you to sleep.'

'Dream, Dream, Dream!
Dreams transform into thoughts
And thoughts result in action.'

What is Life ???

What is Life ???

Life is finding happiness in happiness of your near and dear ones.

Life is going to your sister's home from the other end of the city with a cake to wish a surprise birthday at 12 am, find a lock hanging on the door and then having a great laugh at yourself.

Life is when that one stupid friend of yours always asks you - "Bhabhiji kaisi hain ?" even when he knows that you are single.

Life is playing Uno with your sister, 20 years younger to you, and watching that laugh on her face after giving you a +4.

Life is watching 'Namaste London' or 'Jab We Met' uncountable number of times.

Life is riding your bike on the highway with your friends at 2 am.

Life is when you listen to a song and remember someone, a smile comes to your face, the next second, you are sad and moments later, you mature !!!

Life is when you plan a bike trip to Sinhagad fort but go to Kaas plateau instead with your friends.

Life is seeing your parents feel proud of you in tiniest of your achievements.

Life is in having 'tikki-chaat' outside your school after several years.

Life is in forgiving and forgetting old grudges and moving on. Its never too late!!!

Life is when your friends refer Lamborghini Gallardo as your car.

Life is being compared to one of your favorite authors.

Life is doing all those crazy stuff  you are afraid  to do but you still do coz your heart wants to do it with the song on your mind -
'khud pe bharosa hai, khud pe yakeen hai,
kar lenge kaam chahe jitna sangeen hai'.

Life is when people trust you and look forward to you for anything.

Life is when you have 2 reservations in the train but you keep all the luggage in one and adjust in one seat with your friend coz you are used to it and love it.

Life is when you have that one friend who plays NFS Most Wanted way better than you but when you defeat him in a race by some luck, you go Gung Ho about it for a week.

Life is not about big wonders, but its about happiness in all those little things which you love and care about and the stupid, crazy things you do with your family and friends.

I Love You . . .

I Love You . . .

I Love You !!!
3 magical words which can change your life completely. It brings a new found energy, motivation and happiness to your life. Your whole view-point of life changes. Life itself seems to have flipped in an instant seeking new dimentions. I love you means that you have high importance in my life. I love you means no one can take your place ever. I love you means you are too special for me. Thats it and as the saying goes - " Love makes Life Beautiful ! "

I Love You !
3 magical words which can even leave a person's life entirely empty. You start thinking about your 'love' 24 x 7, you link everything with your 'love' even when you know it won't lead you anywhere. I love you doesn't mean that I want to interfere in your life. I love you doesn't mean that you owe me anything. I love you doesn't mean you have to love me back. I am not a salesman to convince you for loving me. I love you simply means I love you.

इसके बिना --
लाइफ सही है,
टेंशन नहीं है.

शायद इसीलिए कहते हैं यारों --
कभी इश्क़ ना करियो काके,
दिल की बात ना सुनियो काके।

I love you !
There is love in every relationship - parents, brother, sister, uncle, aunt and friendship too. You love your near and dear ones - that's why that relationship exists. There is love in those arguements, there is love in those small fights, there is love in family gatherings, there is love in festivals, there is love in those unnecessary parties, there is love in making fun of each other, there is love in just sitting close by, there is love in those warm hugs, there is love in the worries, there is love in the future planning, there is love in the pranks and the list is just endless. There is love in almost everything in this world, we just need the eyes to see them as is rightly said - "Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder".

I love you might be the smallest phrase to have so much hidden meaning inside it. So, go on - spread love and happiness around you. The world needs it. Above all, you need it !!!

A new story . . .

Every story has a beginning
and a magical end,
I am stuck on chapter one,
unable to proceed, my friend

Every now and then I see
a part of you I have never seen,
Your thoughts take me somewhere
far away, I have never been.

Your smile is worth zillions,
your kohled eyes speak lot more,
The beauty lies in your heart,
now, how can anyone ignore.

I try to talk to you but I can't
coz my soul turns to steel,
This happens every now and then
when I try to tell you how I feel.

I should have brought you a rose
instead of chocolates from my stipend,
but I was afraid in my little heart
there is no substitute for you, my friend.

Rains come and go, showering me
with a few memories and yearning,
holding your hand, on a long road
on a new journey, distances burning.

Every story has a beginning
  and a magical end . . .

A bike trip to remember . . .

Hurray!!! I have done it!!!

Pune --> 600 km highway + 2 poha + 4 cups tea + awesome weather + 2 crrraaazyyy friends on Pulsar --> Hyderabad

Now that is called a long bike trip which we were yearning for quite a long time. So, as planned, we started our journey on Friday – 21st February at 4:30am to avoid traffic and reach early. It was still dark outside and the road was mostly empty apart from a few occasional trucks. We started on the Pune-Sholapur highway and soon reached 75-80kmph on the city roads where we just dream of crossing 60. After crossing the city limits and the 1st Toll-plaza, we cruised on full throttle with 95-105kmph with occasional 110+ speed and easily reached Sholapur (260km) in one stretch at 7:30am. Even the weather was pleasant during the ride - seemed like everything was in our favour.

In Sholapur, we took our first break and had poha + tea + half an hour break. Now, Gaurav took control of the bike and we cruised further. We were going steady with the traffic which had increased significantly now. After around 80-90km, we entered Karnataka and the journey almost flipped from being smooth to disaster. The road – sorry, was there any road? The situation was literally – ‘Sadak pe gaddhe nahi the, gaddhon pe sadak bana rakhi hai’. Now, we were moving at the snail’s speed trying to avoid the bumps and save our ‘bums’. And suppose that was not enough, people were coming all over from the other side leaving us literally no space to be on whatever little road we had. A couple of times, we had to leave the road and go into the farms and bushes to avoid the trucks and jeeps coming from other side. Suddenly, I was in air. There was a big pit over which the bike had jumped and my ‘bum’ had lost touch with the seat. After almost skipping a heartbeat, when I finally landed back, I could sing just one line - ‘Bum ki to lag gayi’. This disaster followed for about 70-80km, the whole way we were in Karnataka. ‘Kaun kehta hai ki Karnataka ke roads achchhe hain, Gaya-Patna road bhi isse achchha hua karta tha even 10 saal pehle.’

An old, abandoned, unnamed fort on the way after Sholapur

We took our second break after crossing the Karnataka border, had tea and gave rest to our aching bodies. It took us nearly 3 hours to cross that small patch in Karnataka. We were just hoping that Andhra didn’t have any more surprises for us. Thankfully, the roads were good with less traffic and we drove freely. The time was 2 pm and we were almost on the city limits of Hyderabad and were feeling hungry. We stopped at a dhaba and thought of trying something different and ‘tada’ – we had Jowar roti. I think it would be my first and last triumph with Jowar roti.

When we started after lunch, I was driving and Gaurav was navigating with the help of his Nexus. After going parallel to the Hitech-city expressway endlessly for quite a long and frustrating time, we reached Wipro circle. Next, we crossed Microsoft, Infosys and were standing at Gachibowli circle which seemed like a familiar territory. Pretty soon, we were outside café Nandini at Madhopur without any difficulty and by 4pm, we were lying down on cozy beds which felt like heaven.

After relaxing for 2 hours, we thought to explore the city on foot as both of us were in no mood of biking. So, we started right away and Gaurav suggested discovering the ‘Durgam Cheruvu secret lake’. Then started our series of calls to friends in Hyderabad – some we were able to talk, some we could not. By the time we got to the lake, it was already dark and the lake appeared to be totally deserted and smelly. Google maps showed we were near Inorbit mall and we didn’t have anywhere else to go at this time anyways. Next we went to Delhi-39 in Hitech City with the Hyderabadites(old Puneites) for dinner and made plans of visiting Ramoji film city, NTR Garden, etc for the next day. I thought it was end of a long day but Gaurav had some more plans. We went to meet some of his college friends at Infosys. With the dinner, college chats, simultaneous messaging and walking in that awesome weather in night, time just flew by and before we could realize, it was 3am – time to retire.

Next day, we woke up to rush to watch ‘Highway’. A day ago, we had watched it live and today, we were going to a mall for the movie. Seems like a deviation from yesterday’s plan of visiting Ramoji. Next, we enjoyed bike races and bowling at Inorbit mall, followed with lunch (and it was 5pm already) which felt like Hyderabadites are not interested in showing us anywhere in Hyderabad. Then we went to NTR Garden (just crossed it from outside), followed by Lumbini park (we just had pani-puris outside it, didn’t go inside this too :D) and finally reached Birla Temple (and we didn’t go inside the main temple too :P). We just sat outside the temple enjoying the night view of the dazzling necklace road around the Hussain Sagar Lake from the top. By the time we returned to Hitech City, it was already late and we called it a day.

It was our 3rd day in Hyderabad and we had to return back to Pune that day. Gaurav wished to have Hyderabadi biryani before going back and we went to Paradise restaurant for the same. It might be famous for its biryani, but at least that day, it was not worth anything. Next, we went to Menchies for having frozen yogurt and that was the treat to this trip. Making our own combination of yogurts with our own choice of toppings was fun and was an equally yummy and delightful experience. This marked the end of our stay at Hyderabad and it was time to leave for Pune as we wished to cross the bad patch of Karnataka before dusk.

The time was 4pm and my bike was refusing to start. After numerous kicks, when it finally started, Gaurav feared whether it will survive till Pune or not but I had confidence on it. After this short disturbance, we bid farewell to Hyderabad and started our journey from Hitech City. By the time we reached Karnataka, it was starting to be dark and our ride had started becoming bumpy again. Then, I noticed that front-left indicator was hanging down from the bike. At first I thought someone had broken it in Hyderabad but we found that its screw had become loose and fallen-off. We fixed it temporarily with a twig and carried on with our journey. It had become dark and the headlights of the trucks coming from the other side were making it too difficult to drive on that pit-full road. Gaurav took charge and drove carefully and we were almost near Sholapur by 9pm.

We took a long break, had our dinner and started at 10:30pm from there. Roads were better now but the pits had made the condition of bike weak with us. The handle was a little loose and we joked whether it will come out in our hands. Even after reaching Sholapur-Pune highway, we went at normal speed to avoid any further load on the bike. We took 2 more tea-breaks on the way and made it smooth and safe to Hadapsar. Just before reaching Hadapsar bus-stand, Gaurav told that something hit his legs and fell. We stopped and saw that the side panel of the bike was missing. I went back to fetch it and just before my eyes, 3 trucks crossed over it. I had lost hope but on picking it, I found that it was still in good condition with just a few scratches (Jai ho Bajaj walon ki). Finally, we reached Magarpatta at 4am, thanked the bike for delivering us back safely and that’s how we ended our great bike trip with loads of memories.

P.S. – Well, I had promised someone that I would come to Hyderabad before March and here I was, and little did the person imagine that I would come ‘Dhoom’ style. There was a time when this trip was almost cancelled on Thursday night and still I was thinking of making it, even alone. Gaurav, after hearing that I would be going alone anyway, was ready to accompany me. We slept just 1-2 hours that night and were still undecided to take 2 bikes or 1. Finally, just before our start, Gaurav told me to go on my bike which was a great decision. On the lighter side, we did a rough calculation on the way that if he had brought his bike, the amount of fuel consumption would have made the air-travel cheap. At the end, I just want to add that Gaurav was the inspiration in the trip. Had he been not there with me, I don’t think I would have been able to make it. Thanks a lot Gaurav for making this happen.

Diary of an unsocial human

Diary of an unsocial human

Society – Our human conglomerations, where we live, grow up and build relationships with other people around us. As rightly said by Aristotle – “Man is by nature a social animal”. Society and man complement each other – existence of both is not possible without the other. People of different customs and creed come together, become friends, live in harmony, share their happiness and grief, have differences yet find peace in co-existence. I think that is the reason why social science is considered as a very important science and social networking sites generate so huge revenue.

Coming back to me, there was a time; I was quite a social person. Friends, parties, adventure were my life and I used to go to any extent to satisfy myself, fulfill my desires and still urge for more. There was a never ending triumph for FUN in my life. And then
jane kis ki hamein lag gayi hai najar, is sheher me na apna thikana raha. There was a complete flip in my life – I lost interest in adventure, rarely contact friends, stopped recharging sms packs, left facebook, even forgot a few birthdays(now, this is completely opposite of my nature) – in short, as some of my friends have even started telling me, I have almost gone out of this world.

There is nothing wrong with me. I am not hiding from or avoiding anyone. I am just trying to check my limit of loneliness by trying to stay away from everyone as much as possible – I hope this would look like quite a justifiable and logical thing for a person of my nature and caliber but afsos, even which is not the case. I am not sure but maybe I am a changed person now and I just don’t have an aptitude to mingle with others anymore. Or a more probable answer which I could think of is that I want a break from all the chaos around me to bring my heart and mind at peace and then someday, I will again be my normal self – adventure loving, fun seeking friend you all know. I just hope with my fingers crossed that till that day, I am still in your heart and not ‘poof, gone out of your lives!’ I don’t know where I might be and to whom I would still have contact in the future but till then, I would like to quote the song ‘Boulevard of broken dreams’ by ‘Green Days’ for my present life –

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But its home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone, I walk alone
I walk alone, I walk a...

My shadow’s the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart’s the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me

   Till then I walk alone . . .

Life vs Death

Life vs Death

Life and Death - what a deadly combo!!!
Recently, one of my friends told me that he wanted to do suicide and finish his torturous, almost hell like life as he couldn't bear the frustrations anymore. Although I know that he didn't have the slightest guts to do that but it made me wonder that how could anyone be so hopeless from himself to even think of leaving this magnificent world?

This made me wonder that why do people even think of ending their life. May be bcoz we humans have this tendency of giving importance to negative thoughts more than the positive ones. Whatever be the situation, we spend more time searching for flaws and their solution rather than focusing on the merits and it might be that people think dying is a lot easier and quicker solution to their misfortune but I am still unable to understand that how can we justify death as a solution to end all our miseries. Are we really so helpless that we can’t handle our situation and its over-mounting stress.

I tried to figure out the reasons of people doing suicide. The first reason coming to my mind is when people(you might have read about farmers of many states in India) have absolutely no hope of improving their situation and can't bear to see their loved ones' pain, they choose to end their life rather than seeing their family suffer. Rightly said by Friedrich Nietzsche - "Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man." One case is when students commit suicide after failing in exams. This is one of the most avoidable situations. Youth should not be pressurized so much for performing out of their scope that they lose their self-confidence and choose the path of utmost failure and hopelessness. Failure is not the end of the world. Rather, it should be the stepping stone of a new beginning. We should give them hope of a beautiful tomorrow coz "Hope is tomorrow's veneer over today's disappointment." Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear.

Then, one of the reasons of suicide is failure in love. I think it is the most stupid and irresponsible decisions made by people who have absolutely no sense of logic. Does life stop due to departure of anyone from our life? My suggestion to such people would be to be logical and stop living in their past. Once you realize the past is only a story, it has no power over you and you can move forward to a new future. Let me share 4 lines of someone close to my heart –

har dil me kisi ke liye dua hoti hai                       हर दिल में किसी के लिए दुआ होती है
har dard me koi chhupa baitha hai                     हर दर्द में कोई छुपा बैठा है
dil ka dard karein bayaan kaise                            दिल का दर्द करें बयान कैसे
jab dard se hi ishq hone laga hai                          जब दर्द से ही इश्क होने लगा है

My dear friends, it might look poetic and be your own situation but believe me, its absolute filmy bullshit and although it might not feel that easy, but the path to happiness is quite simple - "Just forget the past and move on". Let me quote a few lines from one of my own blogs - "Life is not about crying – it is about living eachday as a new beginning, giving your best shot, enjoying each & every momentfully and celebrating & sharing your happiness with your near & dear ones. It is important what you want in life, but it is more important what you have in life.Your life is in your hands. Lead it, don't follow it."

At the end, I just want to say what is written on the top of this blog and what I believe from the bottom of my heart - "Life is very beautiful. Enjoy it to the fullest and Have a nice day! :-)"
