Katrina got married!

From last few days, I have been getting quite a few calls from family and friends letting me know that Katrina Kaif is getting married. I started wondering why everyone is calling me. I was not her only fan. I might get a few more calls after this blog but who cares.

Let me get the facts straight that once upon a time, I was indeed quite a big fan of her. After-all, watching Namastey London more than 100 times is not a small feat when I might not have watched any other movie even 10 times in my entire life. Akshay Kumar rightly said in the movie - 'Tumhe pehli baar dekhte hi mujhe tumse pyaar ho gaya tha!' My laptop used to have a large collection of her wallpapers. My friends in college even got ice-cream treats on her birthday. Those times were crazy. I was a little obsessed over her.

I still remember the premiere of Race in Select City Walk, Delhi where we got to see her live. Seeing her walk at just 2 feet distance was like a dream. She was just mesmerizing in that silvery white dress. I did not go to theatre that often but I would always go for her movies. Ali Zafar described her pretty well in Mere Brother ki Dulhan - 'Ye hoti hai asli ladki. Chutki me Bipasha, chutki me Madhubala!' And yes, I did mention her in couple of my poems/blogs.

But things change with time. My fandom declined and only 2 Puneites are aware of that as they didn't tease me this time. By the way, let me share a pun fact. Katrina is 2 years older than me and Vicky Kaushal is 2 years younger. So, I will always be between them! Jokes apart, as she rightly said in Namastey London - 'Ishq di mere mitra pehchaan ki. Mit jaaye jadon jid apnan di'

From “Wow, Again!” to “Not Again!”

“Propose me in a way no one, who knows you, would expect from you” – she said. Wow, that’s a tough one but as Barney would say – “Challenge accepted!” I had only managed to say that I liked her a lot and chuckled inside that her wanting a proposal meant ‘Yes’. Now, I just had to think out of my box.

Sandhya, or Sandy was my ex-colleague. She was a chirpy, bubbly girl in my office. Her being the only one my age in the team made us bond easily. We were the little sparrows in the world of friendly hens and harsh cuckoos. We had lunches together and those were quite fun times. The tiffins and views we shared were extremely different. She was frank, rather too outspoken while I was the reserved kind. She prepared well-cooked meal while I would bring half-cooked vegetables (I was still learning at that time) or rather have thali in the canteen. I loved biking all around the city while she liked relaxing at home on the weekends. You would say opposites should have attracted but I was completely absorbed in my own one-sided romance, oblivious from rest of the world.

There is not much value given to the newbies in an organization. One afternoon, she came to my desk and cried. Everyone sitting around was gazing sharply at me. I was feeling awkward with the judgemental eyes staring on me. I took her outside and there were more prying eyes. She kept sobbing and telling the discussion with her manager and I stood there silently listening to her. I wanted to hug her and say everything would be fine, but I did not. Sometimes, I regret that I could not even console her when she needed. After half an hour, she was calm again. The next day, she resigned. For the first time, I felt her presence in my life and realized soon there would be absence. She got a job soon and on her last day in office, I wrote couple of lines for her in my blog – “Jab baat dil me koi nahi”

Soon after, my first one-sided affair became two-sided when both of us started ignoring each other. Couple of months later, I got a friend request from Sandhya on facebook. There was an instant connect with her after this long gap. For a long time, we discussed each other’s life through calls and messages. After a year, we decided to meet. We met for the first-time outside office and spent four hours in that coffee shop. I regret not knowing more about her during our lunches.

After my last heart-ache, I had never thought even in my dreams that my heart would flutter again. Her calls made my heart content and meeting her was a bliss. I always was my own self with her which I might only be with my close friends. I had a very surreal feeling with her, something very magical and different. May be the feeling was mutual as she also loved to hang out with me. May be that is why it felt so real. I might be falling in love all over again. Wow, all over again!

I even wrote a poem, but I did not give her. I had a feeling I was not ready yet -

Unfortunately, I can’t!

Today, I had this thought
Suddenly, just out of the blue
Oh girl, I like you a lot
Unfortunately, I can’t tell you!

Our views and tiffins were so different
I miss those fun times at lunch
It was hard to see, spread your wings
And fly so distant from our bunch.

Nowadays, when we talk
I lose track of the time
You make my heart skip a beat
It’s a feeling so sublime.

I wish to talk to you every day
I have so many things to pour
I want to listen to you endlessly
I want our relationship to soar.

I know some dreams are dreams
The above is just my rant
I wish I could help myself
Unfortunately, I can’t!

Couple of months ago, she was shopping for her cousin’s wedding and one dress she tried made my mouth open, but I did not have words to compliment her. When she asked for the second time how she looked, I broke from my sense of dreaminess and said – “I like you!” Now, her mouth was open, and she had nothing to say. She quietly went back, changed and we came out of the shop. For few minutes, we did not say anything. Then she said let’s talk over lunch. I was relieved that she wanted to talk. We went inside a less populated restaurant and she asked what I just did. Now, I had not planned anything - it was on the go, at the spur of the moment. I told her that I had started to have some feelings for her which were blurted out today. She smiled, just a little, for the first time in last half an hour. Then she put the condition to propose in a different way, in a way out of my character. It was my turn to smile, a big one though.

Coming back to the present day, 2 months have passed since she asked for the proposal and nothing has clicked in my rusty, little brain. All the proposal ideas on youtube or the Korean movies I watch are not proving of any help either. She had put a condition that she would only meet me on the day I was ready to propose. The number of calls and messages we shared have declined too. Yesterday was her birthday and she did not meet me. She has not picked up any of my calls from today morning. Feels like Déjà vu all over again! Oh please, not again!!!

One night @ Deja Vu

Life is not about making choices; it’s about going down the path we have chosen for us and I had made my choice before the choice even came before me. When the whole world was engulfed in celebrating the new year, I was already out in the memory lane traversing irregular paths, jumping one lane to another, seeing faces of all my loved ones – mom, dad, bro, sis, friends, that special smile while falling freely down my 13th floor apartment.

Now, allow me to start from the very beginning. The person falling at an acceleration of ‘g’ is me, and people who know me would not believe that I would ever do such a stupid thing but this story starts from a date few months ago. It was the most special day of the year - my birthday. I was awake early and was being impatient for the most awaited call of the day. She didn't keep me waiting for long and that sweetest Good Morning made my day. We had plans to spend the whole day together and have fun. We went for a small hike, spent the evening watching movie and playing games in the mall and had a lavish dinner. Finally, the day was over and I went to drop her at her society.

It has been 2 years and I don't even know when Riya became an integral part of my life. My life would start with her sweet good mornings and my day would end with her good nights. Every day I would long only for seeing her beautiful smile. Office hours seemed like eternity without her and evenings were a bliss when we would be together. It sometimes feels strange how time flies by so fast. "Where are you really taking me mister?" - her voice brought me back to reality and I realized I had crossed her apartment a couple of minutes ago while being lost in my chain of thoughts.

I made a U turn and returned back to her society. We hugged to say goodbye and it was a little longer than usual. The time was 12:01, my birthday was over. I asked her if she was ok and as suspected, she was not. Her face had no emotions and I knew I was about to hear something serious which I dreaded not to hear. She said her parents were finding a match for her . . . "but you don't even smoke, what would you do with a match???" I cut her sentence in between, there was a moment of shock in her face and the next moment I received a solid punch on my shoulders. She continued that she was not ready for marriage yet, not even with me(and neither was I). I consoled her that our parents think like that only and we will figure a way out. I could not sleep the whole night and even thought deeply about this whole marriage affair. I finally concluded that marriage was not on my list yet, not even in my wildest dreams.

Next 4 months were the hardest to cross. Every other week, her parents would make her meet someone and she was able to dodge them cleverly(we planned too many ways to do this).  Finally, we decided to let our parents know about our relationship. My parents reluctantly accepted it but her parents didn't even want to hear her out. Tension of our parents passed on to us and even we had occasional riots over this issue. Nothing was going our way and we were completely helpless in our situation. It felt like having a ton of pressure on us and our brain and heart had stopped functioning.

It was New year's eve and she had gone to her hometown for the week. I had no plans and was sleeping peacefully in my apartment when my phone rang. I picked up my phone to see Riya calling. The time was 9 PM and there still were 3 hours before the calls would start to flood in. Her hello lacked the usual cheerfulness and had too much gravity in it. I jokingly asked - "Why so serious, teri shaadi set ho gayi kya?" She didn't reply for a moment before breaking into tears. I realized the bad timing of my joke and apologized numerous times but it was too late. After 15-20 minutes, she became a little normal and said "It is all over now and it is better to end our relationship with the year. Let the new year be for new beginnings, whether we like them or not. Forget me and move on . . ." I knew she switched to English only when she was not comfortable in speaking something but her abrupt ending of the call was too much to handle for me.

I called her non-stop for the next 2 hours but she didn't take any of my calls. None of my messages were proving of any use. I was unable to understand the situation that why she was avoiding me like this. It was killing and frustrating me at the same time. Whatever was between us, be it friendship or love, we could at least talk about our situation. Even if she wanted to break up, we could discuss it sensibly. I think our relationship had that level of maturity, but something or rather she changed in a day and I was unable to accept this.

In these 2 hours, my frustration and her avoidance led me to anger. My anger and helplessness to do anything to make her talk to me led me to depression. All of our 2 years started to flash in front of my eyes. My depression combined with these memories made me anxious and may be this anxiety killed my rationality. It was 5 minutes to midnight and I was walking furiously, thinking unstably in my balcony. I called her one last time and she didn't pick up. At that moment, I lost everything, I lost even me. Next moment, I was standing on the edge of the balcony. Rockets started to fly in the sky, there were noises(must have been merries) from all parts of the building and I felt weightlessness. Physics says it would take me less than 3 seconds to hit the ground but the speed of thoughts is much faster than light. I saw millions of memories flash by in that little time when my phone rang . . .

I was holding my phone too tightly and it was ringing. I was still delusional if I was still in my dream or had woken up. The time was 9 PM, it was still 31st December and I was still alive. I chuckled a little on this new sensation. I finally paid attention to my phone call - it was displaying Riya calling. I cheerfully attended the call but her hello had too much gravity in it. I was starting to feel deja vu when my natural instinct asked her - Why so serious, teri shaadi set ho gayi kya . . .

Story of a stalker

Everyone's minds have some deep secrets hidden deep inside several locks. Today, I open my gates for everyone. Hello common folks, you are most welcome inside my brain. Let me show you some deep hidden rooms of my gorgeous mind-villa.

It all started with her. She was standing next to the History section in Crossword, browsing through some ancient stuff. It was not 'love at first sight', rather I totally ignored her but she had this killer smile which caught my attention for the first time. Next day, I saw her again in the mall standing in the next line of movie tickets engrossed deeply in her mobile. I couldn't take my gaze away from her innocent face. She looked up, her kohl lined eyes met mine and she gave her mesmerizing smile. A week later, I ran into her in my building's lift. Both of us smiled and acknowledged our 3 encounters within a week. The serenity in her face suited her name - Reena.

Her friend lived in the flat next to mine and I have lost track of how many times I would have thanked her friend in my mind for being sick. She had typhoid and was in bed rest for 2 weeks. Reena used to visit her friend daily at 7pm after her office and I made sure that I run into her in the lift. I was not in love, I just liked her company and i didn't want to miss that smile. A month later, I saw her at the coffee shop right across my office. I couldn't resist myself and sat on the next table. She was waiting for her friend and I was waiting for mine(that's what I told her). Our friends didn't show up and we ended up chatting for an hour sitting on different tables.

Next weekend, we went on a shopping date as her friends were out of town. It was a lovely July morning with a little drizzling making it awesome for being out of the rooms. We went to Phoenix mall, did some shopping, had lunch, watched a movie and enjoyed bowling without realizing how the day passed. I think I had started to love her. Next weekend, I gave her a small teddy which said 'I Love You' and her smile made me think the feeling was mutual. I was on cloud nine.

Let me tell you somethings which happened within this last one month. She used to leave her building exactly at 8 am. I followed her from her building to the coffee shop near my office. Here, she would have her daily cup of coffee. Occasionally, I would also join her. Then, she would walk to her office and I never missed an opportunity to give her company in these leisure walks after coffee. In the evening too, I would wait outside her office and follow her to her building. My flexible office timings and her fixed routine gave me many chances of interactions with her and eventually, we became good friends. I always remained online on gmail, facebook and whatsapp, she would ping me and then we had our long conversations. After a couple of months, I even shifted to a building right next to her. On the weekends, I would wait the whole night to see her beautiful face in the morning holding a cup of coffee in her balcony. I think these might be my first little baby steps in the world of stalking.

2 months later, I got the terrible news - she got transferred to Delhi. The day she was going from Pune, I proposed her on the railway station. She said long distance relationship won't work. The weight of rejection was heavy but I still managed - "Ja Simran ja, jee le apni jindagi. See you again in nayi Dilli." 3 months, 2 days and a dozen received and unreceived calls later, I was in sapno ke seher, Dilli, to meet the queen of my dreams on the Christmas eve. Ye IT wale bhi bade namune hote hain, Holi, Diwali ki 1 din ki chhutti dene me nani yaad aati hai but Christmas, New year ki hafte bhar ki dete hain.

She was stunned on knowing my presence in Delhi but Jab We Met, we had a beautiful Christmas together. It was just like reliving Pune. We met everyday, roamed around various parts of the city and had a blast - there really was something magical between us. She was still new to Delhi and I showed her all the places I had visited during my school and college trips. I stayed everyday at a different friend's place and asked everyone not to tag me on facebook. So, I met many but no one had the slightest idea for how long I stayed in Delhi and friends seldom talk these days to spill my secret.

It was 31st December. I spent the whole day with her roaming around the isolation of Qutb Minar. In the evening, we went to Select CityWalk, Saket to have the New Year blast. As the countdown of the new year started, I proposed her. She was stunned. Everyone started wishing Happy New Year and I was still waiting for her reply. Although I knew the answer by seeing her startled face, the optimist inside me kept the hope alive. She didn't say anything and I dropped her back to her place without even a Happy New Year wish.

In the morning, she didn't pick my calls but sent a message that we should not meet. It was a crazily deadly start to a new day or rather new year. I went to her place and messaged her I would wait outside her building till she came out to meet me. Now let me tell you something - you will never understand the pain of hopelessly waiting for 6 hours for just a glimpse of someone or the happiness of meeting her/him after that wait, if you have not done it yourself. Finally, she came out only to say that this would be the last time we ever meet. I was heartbroken. I bid goodbye to her and returned back to Pune.

One month and 8 days have passed and we have not contacted each other since then. I still remain online everywhere in the hope that someday she will ping me to ask how I am. But I can't just wait for her. So, I have taken transfer to Delhi and hell yeah, am currently aboard a flight ✈ to the city of my lady. Wait a minute, are you calling me a stalker after roaming inside my mind-villa and going through my beautiful secret. Stalker, Me? No way! I'm just boundary challenged!!!

I Love You . . .

I Love You . . .

I Love You !!!
3 magical words which can change your life completely. It brings a new found energy, motivation and happiness to your life. Your whole view-point of life changes. Life itself seems to have flipped in an instant seeking new dimentions. I love you means that you have high importance in my life. I love you means no one can take your place ever. I love you means you are too special for me. Thats it and as the saying goes - " Love makes Life Beautiful ! "

I Love You !
3 magical words which can even leave a person's life entirely empty. You start thinking about your 'love' 24 x 7, you link everything with your 'love' even when you know it won't lead you anywhere. I love you doesn't mean that I want to interfere in your life. I love you doesn't mean that you owe me anything. I love you doesn't mean you have to love me back. I am not a salesman to convince you for loving me. I love you simply means I love you.

इसके बिना --
लाइफ सही है,
टेंशन नहीं है.

शायद इसीलिए कहते हैं यारों --
कभी इश्क़ ना करियो काके,
दिल की बात ना सुनियो काके।

I love you !
There is love in every relationship - parents, brother, sister, uncle, aunt and friendship too. You love your near and dear ones - that's why that relationship exists. There is love in those arguements, there is love in those small fights, there is love in family gatherings, there is love in festivals, there is love in those unnecessary parties, there is love in making fun of each other, there is love in just sitting close by, there is love in those warm hugs, there is love in the worries, there is love in the future planning, there is love in the pranks and the list is just endless. There is love in almost everything in this world, we just need the eyes to see them as is rightly said - "Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder".

I love you might be the smallest phrase to have so much hidden meaning inside it. So, go on - spread love and happiness around you. The world needs it. Above all, you need it !!!

A new story . . .

Every story has a beginning
and a magical end,
I am stuck on chapter one,
unable to proceed, my friend

Every now and then I see
a part of you I have never seen,
Your thoughts take me somewhere
far away, I have never been.

Your smile is worth zillions,
your kohled eyes speak lot more,
The beauty lies in your heart,
now, how can anyone ignore.

I try to talk to you but I can't
coz my soul turns to steel,
This happens every now and then
when I try to tell you how I feel.

I should have brought you a rose
instead of chocolates from my stipend,
but I was afraid in my little heart
there is no substitute for you, my friend.

Rains come and go, showering me
with a few memories and yearning,
holding your hand, on a long road
on a new journey, distances burning.

Every story has a beginning
  and a magical end . . .

The End but Life goes on . . .

The End but Life goes on . . .

My blogging started with a feeling so pure and magical and very close to my heart – Love. I was at the top of the world and it made me unreel new dimensions within me. Everyone says love hurts, but that isn't true. Loneliness hurts, rejection hurts, losing someone hurts, even envy may hurt. Everyone gets these things confused with love, but in reality love covers up all pain and makes someone feel wonderful again. Love is the only thing in this world that does not hurt rather it makes you strong at heart. Albert Einstein said – “Don't let your brain interfere with your heart” and I truly agree with him. Our minds can be delured sometimes but as it is rightly said – “Our heart is in the left but is always right”.

Life is full of ironies and I am a living example of it. I might be the luckiest person on this Earth but still the unluckiest of all. I frequently hear people say to me – “I envy you” and they would love a life like me and I always say in my heart – “May you never have a life like mine”. Yes, I did fall in love but believe me gravity had nothing to do in this. I loved someone and I loved her so much that I even forgot myself in front of her. It might not have been reciprocated but it doesn’t matter much as I never had any expectations from her. “इश्क दी मेरे मित्रा पहचान की, मिट जाए जदों जिद अपनान दी”. I might have got carried away for a few moments but that’s it. Getting carried away is typically not of my taste.

Well, when there was nothing from her side, what is this blog all about?  This is to mark the end of a very beautiful journey, an experience worth cherishing but even memories are not in my fate. (Ohh, from when did I start believing in stuff like fate or destiny???) Reality is quite subtle in its own nature. As per Zeno’s paradox, it is quite simple that we would never ever meet coz we would always have that infinitesimal distance between us. In simple terms, I mean that as promised, its over from my side. I don’t see her when I close my eyes now. I might not be as happy as I was a few days ago but as I always say - life goes on and its not gonna stop for anybody. Life is beautiful - enjoy it to the fullest and Have a nice day ! :-)

Jab baat dil me koi nahi . . .

Jab baat dil me koi nahi . . .

Aankhein hain nam kyun
jab baat dil me koi nahi
neend hai aajkal kam kyun
jab baat dil me koi nahi . . .

sapne bhi to hain jaali
baatein bhi khali khali
dard dil me hai utha kyun
jab baat dil me koi nahi . . .

na din ka pata, na main janu raat
mujhme na rahi wo purani baat
har pal, har chhan main marta kyun
jab baat dil me koi nahi . . .

ghar-parivar, dost-yaar rishtedaar
sabse hi main kat gaya hun
kitne tukdo me bat gaya hun
mere khwab bhi dhundhle ho rahe kyun
jab baat dil me koi nahi . . .

gum ho gayi jindagi kahin
na jane kya karna chahun
ek pal hasna, rona chahun
ek pal jeena, marna chahun
na jane hai khushiyan kam kyun
jab baat dil me koi nahi . . .

dil ki hi to hardam sunta hun
dil se hi main sab kuchh karta hun
par dheere-dheere, haule-haule
dil ki main na ab sun pata hun
dil se main na kuchh kar pata hun
dil apna hi lagta paraya kyun
jab baat dil me koi nahi . . .

Letter to someone very close to my heart

Letter to someone very close to my heart

My dearest dreamgirl,

I love you and I love you very much.
I see you in my dreams, I see you with my eyes open. I have ceased to know the difference between my dream and reality. One second, I believe you are with me, the next second I know you are not. I am happy and sad at the same time. I am dying, I am dying without you.

I'm searching you...
I'm waiting for you...
To see you once,
I'm ready to die a million deaths...

I don't know when and how I started loving you but I know I am incomplete without you. My love is a sea of two drops of tears, a journey to eternity and I'll love to have you with me in this journey . . .
I don't know if we will ever meet or not but I'll wait and I'll wait for you till my last breadth.

Love you.

Yours and truly only yours,
Rakesh

Ek Khwaab dekha, jisme tumhe dekha

Ek Khwaab dekha, jisme tumhe dekha

Ek Khwaab dekha
jisme tumhe dekha
tum lag rahe the achchhe
sundar, salone bachche
bachche hain hote natkhat
din bhar hain karte khat-pat
bachpan ki wo nadani
sunna dadi ki kahani
baarish ki wo pyaari naav
khelna - dhoop ho ya chaanv
masti bhare har mausam
      the awesome, awesome, awesome . . .

O...O...sorry for getting lost
fir se start karta hun . . .

Ek Khwaab dekha
jisme tumhe dekha
tum saamne khade the
hum bike pe ade the
bike pe doston sang masti
karna raat bhar matargashti
birthday bumps ki laatein
wo proposals ki baatein
wo january ki ice-cream
Katrina in Gallardo ka dream
wo life kya sahi thi
masti me kat rahi thi . . .

O...O...fir se bhatak gaya
ek baar fir try karta hun . . .

Ek Khwaab dekha
jisme tumhe dekha
haule se jo tum sharmayi
mere dil pe keher dhayi
dil se bhi kuchh hamein yaad aaya hai
khidki khuli, ek chehra saamne paaya hai
muskaan to aisi hai katilana
kar deti hai mujhko deewana
surili aawaaj ka jo jaadu hai
kar deta dil ko bekaabu hai
par dooriyon se aankh bhar aayi hai
gam aur khushi sang layi hai . . .

O...O...not again
lagta hai aaj din hi achchha nahi hai

chalo kisi aur din tumhe sunaunga
apna khwaab apni najron se dikhaunga
mood to hamara aaj bhi sahi hai
aur baat dil ne yahi kahi hai
ki

Ek Khwaab dekha
      jisme tumhe dekha . . .

I **** ***

I **** ***

Who am I – just a nobody
What do I want in life – a special somebody
Who loves me, who cares for me always
Who stays with me nights and days.

I wonder what it would feel like
To have in life, someone so special
But when it comes to spend my life
I think of only you – be it ‘aaj’ or ‘kal’.

Without you, everything is so dull
It seems to me that the whole world is null
I hope everyone will forgive me for this
If you are with me, nothing I am gonna miss.

Life is so long but I don’t need anyone else
I can’t see anyone else anymore
I just hope that someday you’ll realize
My love for you was true, unconditional and pure.

I left you, I went away from your life
But you have not left me alone
Even today, when I close my eyes
Your beautiful, smiling face is shown.

I wish you all the happiness ahead
“Enjoy your life fully!” – I wanna say
And that’s all from my side for now
Till next blog – Have a nice day! :-)

Love

Love

So what is love ?

Its funny I used to think that there is nothing called love in this world.
Its just the crap shown in movies and nothing of such sort happens in the real world.
Basically I was such an idiot.

But lately I have been seeing it differently.

Now I think that love is about finding that one person you really care about.
That one special person that means more to you than anyone else in the world.
And when you find her, you go for her, you risk it all.
You put her in front of everything – your future, your life – all of it.
And maybe she doesn’t even love you.
You know it doesn’t matter.
Bcoz in your heart you know that her happiness is worth everything.

That’s what love is all about.
